That old file still has your words in it. Let's get them out.

Found a folder of documents from a long-gone computer — ClarisWorks, WordPerfect, MacWrite, Microsoft Works? Drop them below. We identify the format automatically (no file extension needed) and convert to something modern: a Word-compatible .odt, plain text, and an instant preview. Everything happens on your device — your documents are never uploaded anywhere.

How it works

  1. Drop in any old document — extensions don't matter; we read the file itself. Even BinHex (.hqx) wrappers work.
  2. Press Rescue. The conversion engine (built from the same open-source filters LibreOffice uses) runs in your browser.
  3. Preview the recovered document and download it as .odt (opens in Word, LibreOffice, or Pages) or plain text.

Formats we can open

Plus other classic Mac word processors the engine recognizes automatically (LightWayText, WriterPlus, MacDoc, HanMac Word, eDOC, and more) — when in doubt, just drop the file in.
